The Sussex Kitchen
Our clients bought a chalet bungalow and promptly knocked it down to build an architect designed contemporary house taking full advantage of the fabulous views of the Sussex Downs. Her brief to Charlie was for a sophisticated space for entertaining and family living, but also a space that was warm and welcoming. Charlie chose oak for the timber which was then raked to bring out the grain and stained. Handleless cupboards were used on the base for a contemporary vibe and aged brass handles for the tall cupboards add interest. Adding the wow factor to a larder cupboard Charlie used beautiful wild walnut timber to the door panels, flanked by ribbed glazed cupboards lit from within for additional display and storage.

In the dining area of the kitchen, a bar area was designed using aged and patinated verdisgris copper panels as a highlight adjoining the wine cooler to the left for white wine and champagne and the wine rack to the right for red.
Practicality was a key requirement for our client so Dekton Sabbia worktops were used throughout, and plenty of vertical dividers in cupboards were designed for storage for baking trays and dishes.
The room is both stylish and sophisticated and the panels of wild walnut and hand patinated copper made from real copper sheets add that unique Ledbury Studio “je ne sais quoi”. Our client is delighted, she says that this is the third kitchen she has had installed over the years “And this one is definitely the best!”
